Why Indoor Air Quality Is Important
Indoor air quality is crucial for the health and well-being of your family. Poor indoor air can lead to various health problems, such as allergies, asthma, respiratory infections, and even chronic fatigue. By investing in a whole-home air purification system, you can significantly improve the quality of air inside your house, providing a safer and more comfortable living environment for your loved ones.
How Whole-House Air Purifiers Work
Whole-house air purifiers are integrated into your home’s heating and cooling system, filtering the air as it passes through the return-air ductwork. They work continuously to purify the air in your home, capturing and eliminating a wide range of airborne contaminants.
Benefits of Whole-Home Air Purification Systems
Capture airborne viruses and reduce respiratory irritants
Our whole-home air purification systems are designed to capture airborne viruses and minimize the presence of respiratory irritants, such as pollen, pet dander, and mold spores. By reducing these allergens, you can help protect your family from allergy and asthma triggers and promote a healthier living environment.
Reduce odors from cooking, pets, and tobacco smoke
Unpleasant odors from cooking, pets, and tobacco smoke can linger in your home, negatively affecting your indoor air quality. Our air purification systems effectively neutralize these odors, leaving your home smelling fresh and clean.
Improve HVAC system’s life and energy-efficiency
A whole-home air purification system not only enhances your indoor air quality but also helps improve the efficiency and lifespan of your HVAC system. By reducing dust buildup and airborne particles, the system operates more efficiently, consuming less energy and requiring less maintenance.
Types of Whole-House Air Purifiers
Flat Filters
Flat filters are the most basic type of whole-house air purifiers. They consist of matted-fiberglass filters or pleated filters that trap large particles and dust.
Matted-fiberglass filters
Matted-fiberglass filters are designed to protect your furnace from large dust particles. However, they don’t effectively block microscopic particles that can irritate the lungs.
Pleated filters
Pleated filters provide more surface area to capture particles, offering slightly better performance than matted-fiberglass filters. They are available at a slightly higher cost but provide enhanced air filtration.
Electrostatically charged pleated filters
These filters use an electrostatic charge to attract allergens such as pollen and pet dander, making them more efficient at trapping microscopic particles. They should be changed every two to three months.
Extended Media Filters
Extended media filters are more effective than regular fiberglass filters due to their accordion-like pile of filtration media. They get integrated into your ductwork and require professional installation.
Electronic Filters
Electronic filters, also known as electrostatic precipitators, use a high-voltage current to charge particles in the air. These charged particles are then attracted to oppositely charged collector plates, effectively trapping them. Electronic filters are particularly efficient at capturing smoke particles too small for media filters. Independent tests have shown that these filters can be up to 30 times more effective than regular fiberglass filters. You won’t need to replace these every. Just clean the aluminum collector in soapy water three to four times a year.
Ultraviolet Filters
Ultraviolet filters are an ideal option for those primarily concerned about germs. These filters use ultraviolet light to kill airborne bacteria and viruses, making them a popular choice in hospitals and other healthcare settings. UV filters are typically built-in components, often sold as add-ons to whole-house electronic precipitators.
